About the Photographers

Tommy Thompson

Following in the footsteps of many other painters, Tommy Thompson was an architectural and commercial illustrator for more than 30 years before advancing to painting oil landscapes in 2002. He now concentrates on painting pastoral landscapes that include horses, figures, and architecture. His paintings are a blend of realism and impressionism and evoke a sense of peace. Thompson's work was recently reviewed in the magazine, American Art Collector (October 2008), and the October 2008 issue of Hills and Hamlets included a feature article about the artist's work. The Winter 2008 issue of Horses in Art, distributed throughout the U.S.A. and Canada, contained an article on his artwork. Travels to Arizona, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, New Mexico, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Wyoming, as well as Canada and Europe, have afforded the artist a wide array of subject matter for paintings. Before becoming an illustrator, Thompson attended the Professional Photographers of America School in Winona, Indiana, and served for seven years as Head of the Art and Photography Department for the Experiment Station at Mississippi State University during the 1970s. For more background information on the artist, see his bio at http://www.tommythompsonart.com/about.

Marie Thompson
After a 30-year career as a communications specialist, Marie Thompson has turned a new page and now serves as Marketing Manager of Tommy Thompson Art. As a communications specialist, she was responsible for producing a variety of publications such as annual reports, newsletters, and brochures; power point presentations; videos, etc., for an international organization. A significant part of her work involved photojournalism in that she had to select appropriate photos to illustrate text. Today she accompanies her husband on all of his painting and photography trips. As her husband uses one camera to capture reference photos for future paintings, Marie uses her camera to preserve her view of the scenes.
